Frequently Asked Questions
ViPR is an acronym of Vitality, Performance and Reconditioning (Restore Movement).
Loaded Movement Training effectively challenges and conditions muscle, fascia, nerves, skin and other systems of the body. Science shows that moving with load improves balance, agility and dynamic strength, to reach goals such as weight management, improved functionality in all aspects of life and enhanced performance in every level of sport.
The activity and your physical ability will determine the best choice for you. Remember that you will make progress and will likely want to upgrade the size/weight at some point. ViPR is extra hardwearing, so you can throw it around or drag it through the sand and it will still be ready to perform. You can clean your ViPR by wiping it down with a damp cloth and letting it dry naturally.
Store your ViPR away from direct sunlight and heat. Avoid using your ViPR in chlorinated swimming pools.
ViPR is a three-dimensional tool, which means it allows and encourages you to train the way your body was made to move. If you only use traditional weights you work in a two-dimensional space, which isn’t how we live our daily life. ViPR opens you up to a whole new dimension of training and works in conjunction with your regular training programme.
There isn’t only one answer – that’s the beauty of this tool. Depending on your goals, you can focus on strength, cardio, speed, balance and/or agility. For example, if you are using a 4-6kg ViPR for agility drills, your heartrate will soar quickly – it’s the perfect high-intensity interval training tool. Or you may want to stretch and restore some movement quality to your body, so you choose a 10kg tool to lengthen your body. The more you play with ViPR, the more you learn what you can do with it.
Great question! Originally, we only had the PT ViPR, which is made of rubber, so the colours are quite subdued. This was so PTs could throw ViPR around outside and not be concerned about it getting too grubby. Then we found that consumers loved the tool and wanted to take it home, so we created a new range that is more colourful and a little more consumer friendly.
Yes, absolutely. The PT ViPR only differs from the Fitness ViPR because it is manufactured in rubber, which also means the colours are slightly more subdued and it is slightly more flexible. Otherwise, they are the same and will do the same job.
With ViPR, you move in a different way than with other tools. Your body won’t be doing the same activity on both sides due to the three-dimensional aspect of ViPR training, but you will improve quickly. You might start with a 4kg or a 6kg but, as soon as you get the hang of it, you will want to go heavier for strength work. Smaller sizes will always be necessary for agility, cardio and stretching activities – you don’t outgrow them, you just add to them.
Yes, we recommend the 2kg ViPR for Pilates classes. Using ViPR in your Pilates classes brings in a whole new dimension. Many instructors use props like small hand weight, balls and bands but using ViPR allows you to move with load in a fully three-dimensional space. It promotes strength and mobility gains, as well as challenging the core and stabilising muscles. Use ViPR to increase the functional benefits of Pilates matwork training. Want to learn more? ViPR comes in sizes from 2kg to 26kg. Depending on your goal – agility, strength, speed, power, cardio, balance or mobility – there is a size or weight that will work for you. Choose your VIPR
It will depend on the size of the ViPR or ViPRs you choose as to how easy they are to transport. If it’s just you with a 6kg and a 10kg and you want to walk to the park to work out, go for it – with one in each hand, you’re warmed up by the time you get there. If you have purchased a full set, you may need something with wheels to move them around.
