Fitness professionals are being urged to capitalise on the yearly surge of tennis interest that follows the start of Wimbledon by using ViPR to improve their clients’ game.

Camilla Ayrton, ViPR master trainer, says: “Whether clients are sporadic players or seasoned and experienced, ViPR is one of the best tools to improve your match fitness quickly, safely and effectively.

“The fundamental components of conditioning for tennis are strength, power, endurance, speed, agility and footwork – to improve these aspects of your fitness you need a tool that can train you in the manner with which you will move on the court. ViPR allows you to mimic precise moves that you would use in a match with load, thereby increasing all aspects of fitness mentioned above.”

The following three exercises are recommended:

 ·         ViPR Lateral Step with Trunk Rotation

·         ViPR Multiplanar Shift Pattern

·         ViPR Wide Grip with Lateral Shuffle and Rotation

Camilla added, "These three exercises encourage movement with rhythm and timing to stretch then shorten the muscles, increasing available force to stop, start and change direction. They will encourage the muscles and entire body to effectively use the forces available to each of us, gravity and ground reaction force, to bring about mutli-directional movement whilst ensuring proper motion to increase power, strength and endurance."

Opening on 25 June and running until 8 July, Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and always attracts strong television viewing figures and press coverage.
